Before you even get to start thinking about what the booth is going to look like, you have to figure out what you're going to be doing there, and roughly when you want to do it.
Here's just a cross section of an early pass at the planning schedule of what was going on when/who was signing. This is the SIMPLE version. You don't even want to see the work schedule I came up with, and there were only eight people working the booth that first year!
This was the beginning of the first day's construction of the booth. The first year, we only did a 20x20, and we were right next to Nickelodeon. (Yep, that's their tv in the background).
We only had a day and a half to get the booth up. We had the pre-requisite problems with the audio/video, etc. Everyone was working like maniacs. Now imagine hundreds of booths all going through this same kind of construction and barely controlled chaos all at the same time. It was an awesome thing to see!
Those two towers were not only there to show off the graphics and support the "bridge" banner over the booth...we had storage built in for all of the giveaways, since we didn't have any kind of "back room". (Note to anyone else who may do a booth at a later date...if you can afford the construction cost, please do yourself the favor, and add it to your floor space. You can thank me later.)
I know it's going to be hard for you to believe, but at the point in the picture below, the booth was actually done! Do you see those two pallets of boxes? Those were just some of the giveaways we did that year. Getting all of it into the towers took some creative packing. (The one on the right was the same size as the one in the back of the booth in front of the Foster's house).
All in all, I think it came together pretty well. Since it was the first year, we got to do some pretty crazy graphics, and the colors really popped.
